Graphic Design
Graphic Design is the foundation of my professional career. After studying graphic design at St. Lawrence in Kingston Ontario I have worked at an animation studio, advertising agency, design studio, marketing team and have done a variety of freelance consultant work along the way. My graphic design experience includes designing for print, web, books, posters, brochures, information graphics, exhibits and more.
UI Design
User interface design has become an every day part of life. Touch screens can be found in cars, medical devices, on thermostats, ovens, industrial machines, kiosks and watches. My experience working in UI design and application development for embedded devices gives me a better sense of how content development, usability and information architecture are the driving force behind building successful products for the end user.
Video + Motion Graphics
In 2005 I was introduced to working in video at an animation studio as a production assistant. For the past ten years I’ve been creating videos for web site content, creating and managing videos for a corporate YouTube channel. From writing scripts to narrating and storyboarding videos the creative process keeps me thinking about composition and delivering better storytelling.
Logo + Brand Identity
I’ve designed logos for individuals and developed brands for small businesses and corporations and it is a pure form of creative problem solving. To convey an idea or represent an organization through the use of simple imagery, type and colour leverages the creative process. Brands are only as strong as the experience users have with them; good design always helps tip the scales in the direction of a positive experience.
“Great design defies gravity. Try to bury it and it will float back to the top.”
